Club Crest - Kildangan GAA, Co. Kildare

Our Seniors picked up two valuable League points with a good win at home against Castlemitchell on Saturday evening.

The visitors raced into an early four points to one lead with some superb scores from distance but Eoin Murphy pulled one back to keep Kildangan in touch. Castlemitchell stretched their lead to four before Murphy struck again, this time with a goal following good build up play from Adam Balmer and Dermot Hickey.

Just after the water break Castlemitchell pulled two clear before a blistering shot from Michael John Prendergast rattled the net to give Kildangan the lead for the first time in the game. Kildangan kept the momentum up with a Jack Drumm point from play and a free from wide on the right from Robert McGrath to leave it 2.4 to 0.7 at half time.

The third quarter was a busy affair with Kildangan outscoring the visitors by 1.5 to 0.4. Eoin Murphy was on target again as was Jack Drumm with two well taken frees and one from play from Robert McGrath. A long ball inside from Damien Broughall was tapped to the net by Conor Corrigan as the Castlemitchell goalkeeper advanced to leave the score at 3.9 to 0.11 as the whistle sounded for the second water break.

Both sides tired in the final quarter and swapped two points each with Drumm accounting for both of Kildangan’s scores.

Overall, the team management should be happy with that result. It was a good team performance with Paul Connaughton and Daragh Gilbert very strong in the centre of our defence while Eoin Murphy and Jack Drumm were constant threats up front.

We make the trip to Kill for our next game on Saturday evening.
